  • Overview

    Formed in 1990, the Midlothian Family YMCA started with after-school programs.  In 1995, the outdoor pool was opened with the permanent building following a few years later.

    The Midlothian Family YMCA has something for the entire family, from child care and camp to fitness and sports and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The Midlothian Family YMCA is one of only three locations in our association with an outdoor pool.

    On the corner of Coalfield and Woolridge Roads, the Midlothian Family YMCA is the neighborhood community center for sports, wellness, swimming and camp!

  • Outdoor Pool

    The outdoor pool at the Midlothian Family YMCA is available for a separate purchase for YMCA members and non-members. (The indoor pool is included with your YMCA membership year-round). For more information, visit this page.

Our Story

The Midlothian Family YMCA began taking form in 1990 with exploratory talks between then-metropolitan board chairman William J. Fields, Chesterfield civic leader Joan Girone and Jim Lieby.  This led to a public meeting in March 1992 at Mount Pisgah Memorial Church to gauge local interest in establishing a Y presence in the Midlothian area.  Throughout the remainder of the decade, the branch’s leadership focused on programs, growth and fundraising.  These efforts led to swift expansion.   In 1995, the Midlothian Y opened an outdoor pool, the area’s largest.   A community building opened that same year.  An indoor pool was added in 1996 and a modular unit for teen programs followed in 2002. Since then, the Y has expanded to add a gymnasium, office and classroom space.

  • Are there discounts available for seniors, students, or families?

    Yes! Don’t let income stand in the way of a healthier you! With our income-based memberships, you can have all the benefits of being a YMCA member at a price you can afford. No matter what type of membership you choose, we offer financial assistance to everyone who qualifies.

  • Can I bring a guest to the YMCA?

    An individual may be a guest at the YMCA up to 6 times per year. After that, we encourage guests to look at our various membership options and come as often as you like! Guests may use the YMCA facility accompanied by a YMCA member for $5 per youth (up to age 18), $10 per individual and $20 per family. Ask the member services staff at your branch for more information.

  • Does the YMCA offer childcare services for members?

    Yes! The YMCA offers both Childcare and Childwatch services. Childcare is part of our youth development offerings and includes before and after school care. YMCA Membership includes free Child Watch for our members ages 6 weeks to 11 years old!  We’ll watch your little one while you workout, swim, play basketball or more, as long as you stay in the building.

  • Can I use my YMCA membership at other YMCA locations?

    Yes! Membership to the YMCA of Greater Richmond ensures entry to all 16 of our branches.
