  • Overview

    Located on Hull Street Road, across from Manchester Middle School, the Manchester Family YMCA provides aquatic, wellness, sports and childcare programming. The Manchester Y was originally formed in 1955, it wasn’t until 1974 that a permanent location was opened called the South Richmond-Chesterfield Branch.

  • Child Watch

    The MANCHESTER FAMILY YMCA provided FREE child watch for members during the following hours:

    Monday: 9 a.m. – Noon & 5 – 8 p.m.
    Tuesday:  9 a.m. – Noon & 5 – 8 p.m.
    Wednesday: 9 a.m. – Noon & 5 – 8 p.m.
    Thursday: 9 a.m. – Noon & 5 – 8 p.m.
    Friday: 9 am. – Noon & 5 – 8 p.m.
    Saturday: 8 a.m. – Noon
    Sunday: CLOSED

    For members ages 6 weeks to 11 years.

  • Anderson Family Welcome Center


    As part of the renovations at the Manchester Family YMCA on Hull Street Rd, the Y has built a Welcome Center to serve as a hub for new and current residents in the area to find information, get resources and continue developing a sense of belonging. Learn more today!

Our Story

Known originally as the South Richmond-Chesterfield Branch, the Manchester Y waited a long time until a permanent home was found. The new Y opened in late 1974 in a building measured 100 by 150 feet.  It had a swimming pool, locker rooms, showers and dressing rooms.  Space was provided for ping-pong tables, pool tables, a lounge, a workout area with universal gym and administrative offices.  The branch had outside athletic fields as well, including a softball field and an 2.5-acre man-made pond.

  • Are there discounts available for seniors, students, or families?

    Yes! Don’t let income stand in the way of a healthier you! With our income-based memberships, you can have all the benefits of being a YMCA member at a price you can afford. No matter what type of membership you choose, we offer financial assistance to everyone who qualifies.

  • Can I bring a guest to the YMCA?

    An individual may be a guest at the YMCA up to 6 times per year. After that, we encourage guests to look at our various membership options and come as often as you like! Guests may use the YMCA facility accompanied by a YMCA member for $5 per youth (up to age 18), $10 per individual and $20 per family. Ask the member services staff at your branch for more information.

  • Does the YMCA offer childcare services for members?

    Yes! The YMCA offers both Childcare and Childwatch services. Childcare is part of our youth development offerings and includes before and after school care. YMCA Membership includes free Child Watch for our members ages 6 weeks to 11 years old!  We’ll watch your little one while you workout, swim, play basketball or more, as long as you stay in the building.

  • Can I use my YMCA membership at other YMCA locations?

    Yes! Membership to the YMCA of Greater Richmond ensures entry to all 16 of our branches.
