REgional Back-To-School Events

Each summer, students and families nominated by schools and community partners are invited to regional Bright Beginnings events across Greater Richmond. Kids “shop” for brand-new backpacks, school supplies, clothing, hygiene items and shoes, all while enjoying hands-on activities and supportive interactions with caring adults.

By participating, you help ensure every child starts the school year feeling prepared, supported and excited for what’s ahead. Together, we can help more than 2,500 students walk into their classrooms ready to learn and ready to shine.

Volunteer-Powered, Community-Driven

From helping students select supplies to greeting families and offering words of encouragement, volunteers create moments that matter. Every smile, every high-five and every helping hand builds confidence and connection for kids and families alike.

Each year, more than 500 volunteers donate over 1,300 hours to make Bright Beginnings possible. Whether you’re an individual, family, corporate team or community group, volunteering is a powerful way to make a direct, meaningful impact in just a few hours.
