With so many locations across the Richmond area, we have a variety of camps that your kids are sure to love! And there are a variety of camp options at most of our locations. Types of Camp Programs
Full-Day Camps
Traditional Day Camp
For rising kindergarten - 5th graders
Our Day Camp program offers a traditional outdoor summer camp day experience! Our trained and certified staff will work with each child in a small group setting. They will build relationships, foster a sense of belonging and create opportunities for each of our campers to achieve and learn. We offer a wide range of outdoor specialist activities and focus on character development. Every week has a fun and exciting theme with an educational focus and exciting twist.
Camp EDGE
For rising 6th - 8th graders
The Camp Edge program takes the traditional day camp experience and magnifies the opportunities even more! This year, our teen campers will be participating in all camp activities, as well as having specific leadership curriculum time throughout each week. Our specialists design activities that are geared for teens! Counselors build a sense of belonging, achievement and relationships in small groups to help campers feel like part of the camp family!
LIT (Leaders In Training)
For rising 9th - 10 graders
The Leaders in Leadership Training (LIT) program is a two-week experience at Camp Thunderbird that is designed to teach and inspire rising 9th and 10th graders. This year, we are expanding our program! Campers will participate in small groups and engage in all the activities that Thunderbird has to offer. Curriculum time includes hands-on training experiences and professional development workshops that provide the foundation of the program. Participants will learn basic safety, group facilitation, games, camp best practices and engage in activities that provide valuable employment skills, healthy relationships, and opportunities to lead. Transportation is offered from 6 off-site locations.
EveryBuddy Camp (Camp Thunderbird only)
For 8 - 17 year olds
EveryBuddy offers children with diverse abilities a traditional day camp experience while in a breathtaking natural setting. Campers are included within traditional day camp groups and offered a lower staff to child ratio (1:3). The goal is to help campers interact with their peers, learn new skills, and to even prepare them to continue in our traditional day camp program. Campers experience 100 acres filled with an expanse of camping attractions like an alpine tower, pools, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and so much more. Staff regularly communicate and provide updates about their camper’s progress.
Combo Camps
For 5 - 12 year olds
Combo camps can save you money while letting your child experience multiple camp programs! Combine a half-day sports or specialty camp with a full-day camp. We'll pick up your child from your half-day program and save them a spot in the full day camp program as well!
For all day camps:
- A fixed weekly payment will be drafted each Monday, one week prior to the start date.
- Registration closes Thursday at midnight for the upcoming week. Registrations will not be taken after this time

These half-day programs are great for your young sports fan! From flag-football to basketball, soccer to baseball and more, our sports camps are a great way to stay active in the summer months!
Specialty Camps
For 3 - 10 year olds
Try something different this summer with one of our fun specialty camps! From splash to ninja warrior, acting to science and technology, there's something for everyone at the Y!

Located off route 10 less than one mile west of route 1, camper can enjoy a wide range of nature, including our very own lake! A typical day at Chester camps may include arts, sports, archery and shooting sports, nature, boating, aquatics and more!
