Adventure Programs Information

REGISTRATION BEGINS AUGUST 1

Adventure Programs

Go with your child on a journey of discovery with YMCA Adventure Programs.  The program allows fathers and father figures to spend one-on-one time with their child in a fun environment.  Its purpose is to foster a strong parent-child relationship through quality time spent together.  Our program is divided into two groups. The Guides are for fathers and their sons, while the Princesses include fathers and their daughters.

The Adventure Program increases the level of activity and excitement as your children age.

  • Planned quality time together
  • Overnight camping event in the spring at YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
  • Experience tons of fun activities
  • Large event opportunities such as the Daddy Daughter Dance, Pinewood Derby Race and more.

Registration is made based on the weekend your Circle is schedule to go out to Camp Thunderbird.

Fall registration opens on August 1. The Fall registration includes a Fall Fun Day at Camp Thunderbird with your circle.

Volunteer Day

Volunteer Day is an excellent way for Circles to give back. Camp Thunderbird needs some TLC to keep it looking its best and we would appreciate help from our Adventure Program Participants. All participants will also earn a cleanup patch to add to their vest.

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Come join us for a night of food, fellowship and fancy footwork! The Daddy Daughter Dance will be hosted in January 2020.  Each date has a registration cap so be sure to sign up as soon as possible!  Registration will open December 1.  We encourage Circles to come as a group but participants will need to register individually both dad and daughter(s).  The dress attire is semi-formal.  There is a separate registration for this event and entrance fee.

Pinewood Derby

Do you have what it takes to be the fastest car in the Adventure Guides 500?  Races will be held in February 2021 at Camp Thunderbird in the Navas Lodge. There will be car pick up dates at Camp Thunderbird, Shady Grove Family and Tuckahoe Family YMCA.  Prizes will be given for heats based on age group as well as for judge’s choice for style. Please refer to official rules given to you with your car kit for specifications on weight and construction. Every participant will receive a Pinewood Derby patch.
