Make A Difference

For 167 years, the YMCA OF GREATER RICHMOND has served our region, adapting to meet changing community needs, and partnering with other organizations to ensure our community has access to vital services. Throughout 2020, the Y stood in the gap, responding to residents’ needs and living fully into programs foundational to our mission. For many in our region, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the need for financial assistance. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can benefit from access to Y programs, regardless of income.

We cannot do this without you! Support our Annual Giving today!

What Your Gift Provides

Education

Equity of education is imperative, especially now.

The Y is a lifeline for families and children. Whether through after-school care, full-day care supporting virtual learning at a YMCA Student Success Center, or building beautiful memories at summer day camp, families need the YMCA.

More than ever after months at home, middle and high school students need an outlet for social-emotional support while developing character and life skills. The Y answers the call through Leaders’ Club and Y Achievers, building tomorrow’s cause-driven leaders.

Stronger Spirits, Minds & Bodies

After a long period of isolation and distancing, staying connected to our seniors is more important than ever. We will continue to safely interact and engage with our most vulnerable population.

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children in Virginia. To reduce water-related injury and fatality, the Y offers water safety programs including Learn to Swim and swim lessons, providing children lifesaving skills and the confidence to feel secure around water.

Open to All

Equity of opportunity is part of our mission. Financial assistance for YMCA programs ensures that all can benefit, regardless of income. Assistance is particularly critical as many families experience reduced incomes, underemployment and other financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.

We continue to collaborate to meet urgent community needs, including hosting food drive sites and blood collection sites in partnership with the local food banks and the American Red Cross.

At its heart, the YMCA is a place where all are welcome and everyone belongs.  It is a community asset, a place to gather, a place that is Here. For Good.  Through your support, the YMCA of Greater Richmond can continue to be a place of equitable opportunity FOR ALL.
