My husband and I love the Y for many reasons. Personally, we see the impact it’s programs make in children’s lives through our son’s experience with Y soccer. Initially, we signed our 3 year old up for spring soccer to give us a Saturday morning activity and to introduce him to sports, but our experience proved to be much more than that. Not only did our son learn basic soccer skills and improve his coordination, but he also developed a sense of camaraderie and identity with his team. Furthermore, the incredible volunteer coaches helped our son develop confidence in the game and in his relationship with teammates. When the time came to sign up for fall soccer, I initially considered skipping the season because of some Saturday commitments we already had on the calendar. When my son heard that I wasn’t signing up, he insisted on playing again. He loved his experience so much that not playing was never an option! This is why I choose to give to the Y, to give more children like my son the opportunity to have experiences like these!
