Program Description

At the YMCA, our program is fun as well as educational. The professionally trained staff helps children develop positive social skills through the YMCA’s Character Development Program. Every child is encouraged to practice the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. As with any YMCA program, the YMCA School Age Care Curriculum focuses on the YMCA mission of a healthy spirit, mind and body.

2019/2020 School Year

After School Care

YMCA members can register February 1.  Non-YMCA members can register beginning February 15.

Ages: Kindergarten – 5th grade
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: school ends – 6 p.m.
Location: Manchester Family YMCA – Students will be bused from the school to the YMCA for pick-up.

Pricing Information

YMCA Member:
After School Care: $87 per week
After School Care: $109 per week

  • A non-refundable registration fee of $25 is required per child per school year.
  • For YMCA members, we offer a 10% multi-child discount for families with multiple children. (The first child pays full price with each additional child receiving a 10% discount.)
  • A fixed weekly payment will be drafted each Monday, one week prior to the start date.
  • A 30-day notice will be given if transportation routes need to be changed or cancelled.

Kindergarten Staggered Start

Chesterfield County Public Schools is implementing a “staggered start” to the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, where rising kindergartners with last names beginning with A – M will attend school on the first Tuesday and Wednesday, then be off Thursday and Friday.  Rising kindergartners with last names beginning with N – Z will be off the first Tuesday and Wednesday and have their first days of school be Thursday and Friday.

The YMCA will be providing full-day care for these kindergartners, registered in our 2019/2020 child care program, at the Midlothian Family YMCA.  Transportation by YMCA bus will be provided, with bus stops at the Chester and Manchester YMCAs.
