Aging Strong Program

The YMCA Aging Strong is a health and fitness program partnering with Senior Connections to provide group fitness classes and testing for our senior population.

What does YMCA Aging Strong do?

YMCA Aging Strong provides fitness testing, group exercise classes and socialization support.  We partner with Senior Connections and their Friendship Cafes throughout the Richmond area.

Aging Strong Success Story – Kathy M

Kathy stayed active as an adult, bring walking shoes to work and practicing yoga.  And after a diagnosis resulting in brain surgery, Kathy’s doctors said her speedy recovery was in part due to her being in such good shape!  Watch her story.

Community Events

We support community health events that focus on older adults. We offer fitness demonstrations, health assessments, and more.

Active Aging Week

Nationally celebrated Active Aging Week highlights the positivity of aging.  The Y Active Aging Week activities include Wal-Mart general health screenings at many branches, Open House at the branches for those 55+, and participation in community events.
