YMCA Miracle League
Everyone should have the opportunity to play, and the YMCA Miracle League of Richmond does just that! Children with intellectual, physical or visual needs have the opportunity to experience America’s pastime with volunteers to help them through the game. Play is catered to each child’s ability, with volunteers assisting one-on-one throughout the game.
All games are played on a completely accessible field located at Bird Athletic Complex in Chesterfield County, near Ironbridge and Route 288.
Following the recommendations of the CDC local government officials, our staff has concluded that we have an obligation to postpone our upcoming baseball season. While we are disappointed to bring you this news, we are certain that it is in the best interests of our athletes, volunteers and their families.
Our fall season begins in September 2020 – stay tuned for more details soon!
Volunteer are a crucial part of our program. While our program has been postponed until the fall, we will be looking for volunteers then. You can volunteer as a team, an organization, a group of friends, or by yourself.
Enthusiasm and compassion are the only prerequisites for our volunteers. Just a few hours of your time can enrich the game day experience for a player with special needs. Volunteer needs each week include:
- One-on-one buddies to assist our players with hitting, running the bases, or protection against fly balls
- Fans in the stands to bring energy and excitement to each game
- Baseball positions such as: mascot, pitcher, announcer, bat boy/girl (positions vary as needed)
