Summer camp has come to a close.  But read below what exciting programs we offered.  Program offerings, prices and other details may change in 2019.

Registration for YMCA members begins February 1 and for non-YMCA members on February 15.

 

Camp Tuckahoe

Camp Tuckahoe offers a traditional outdoor summer camp day camp experience! Our trained and certified staff will work with each child in a small group setting. They will build relationships, foster a sense of belonging and create opportunities for each of our campers to achieve and learn.  We offer a wide range of engaging specialist activities, 30 minutes of reading every day, as well as character development and swim lessons. Every week has a fun and exciting theme with an educational focus and exciting twist. YMCA Camp Tuckahoe, you belong here!

A typical day at Camp Tuckahoe may include:

  • Camp Arts: creative arts, camp songs & skits, music, drama & dance
  • Outdoor Sports: archery (basic and advanced), sports & field games, gaga ball, low ropes course
  • Outdoor Education: outdoor education & survival
  • Aquatics: swim lessons, free swim

Ages: Rising K – 5th graders
Times: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 10 one-week sessions beginning June 18
YMCA Member: $196 per week   Non-Member: $250 per week

FINAL FOUR at YMCA CAMP THUNDERBIRD

Final Four is our post-camp experience* that happens the week after camp ends and before school begins. It runs Monday through Thursday at Camp Thunderbird!  We offer bus stops at Tuckahoe, Shady Grove, Downtown, Midlothian and Manchester. Come celebrate the end of summer at Camp Thunderbird with swimming, fishing, gaga, crafts, reading and a few more surprises!

Bus Pick-Ups available at the Downtown, Manchester, Shady Grove, Swift Creek (recently added) and Tuckahoe YMCAs, as well as Millworks (across the street from the Midlothian Family YMCA).


Leader In Training (LIT) at Tuckahoe

The LITs of Camp Tuckahoe participate in typical camp activities but will also have supplemental projects focused on service and team building. The LIT staff use an experiential learning approach to leadership development. Lessons focus on the progression from personal development and exploring many leaderships styles and learning what works for you.

Ages: Rising 6th – 8th graders
Times: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 10 one-week sessions beginning June 18
YMCA Member: $196 per week   Non-Member: $250 per week


Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) at Tuckahoe

The Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program is designed to teach and inspire rising 9th and 10th graders. Hands-on training experiences and professional development workshops provide the foundation of the program. Participants will learn basic safety, group control, games, camp best practices and engage in activities that provide valuable employment skills, healthy relationship and opportunities to lead.

Ages: Rising 9th – 10th grade
Times: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 3 three-week sessions beginning July 2
YMCA Members: $240 per session   Non-Members: $265 per session


Tuckahoe Basketball Camp

Campers will participate in developmental drills, games and fun activities. Basketball Camp teaches the fundamentals of the game of basketball, with an emphasis on offensive and defensive skills.

Ages: 7 – 11 years old
Times: 9 a.m. – Noon
Dates: July 9 – 13

Tuckahoe Flag Football Camp

Campers will participate in developmental drills, games and fun activities. Flag Football Camp teaches the fundamentals of the game of football, with an emphasis on offensive and defensive skills. All games will be played in a flag football format. No pads or equipment are required.

Tuckahoe Girls Field Hockey Camp

Players offer knowledge and expertise to teach the fundamentals of the game such as stick handling, ball control, shooting technique and skills games.

Tuckahoe Golf Camp

Campers will be introduced to the sport of golf and taught the fundamentals of the game. They will chip, pitch, putt and drive their way.

Tuckahoe Pee Wee Sports Camp

Experience the world of sports including BlastBall, basketball, soccer, kickball and floor hockey using our indoor basketball gym, outdoor baseball field and full-size outdoor soccer field.

Ages: 4 – 5 years old
Times: 9 – 11 a.m.
Dates: 3 one-week sessions, beginning June 25, July 16 and July 30

Tuckahoe Richmond Kickers 1st Kick's Soccer Camp

Players and coaches for the Richmond Kickers soccer organization will teach your child the fundamentals of soccer including passing, dribbling and shooting!

Ages: 4 – 6 years old
Times: 9 – 10 a.m.
Dates: 2 one-week sessions, beginning June 18 and July 23

Tuckahoe Richmond Kickers Recreational Soccer Camp

Players and coaches for the Richmond Kickers soccer organization teach your child the fundamentals of soccer including passing, dribbling, ball control, field management and proper shooting!

Dates: 2 one-week sessions, beginning June 18 and July 23

Tuckahoe Sports Combo Camp

Campers will participate in developmental drills, games and fun activities. Sports Combo Camp teaches the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, flag football, ultimate Frisbee and soccer.

Ages: 5 – 10 years old

Dates: 3 one-week sessions, beginning June 25, July 16 and July 30

Tuckahoe Tennis Camp

Learn proper ground strokes, volleys and serves. Skills are reinforced through games and drills.

This camp is located off-site at a local court.  Transportation must be provided by the camper.

Tuckahoe Triathlon Camp

Join the coaches of Endorphin Fitness for a week of exploring the sport of triathlon. Participants will spend the week learning proper technique and skills for swimming, cycling and running combined with fun games that reinforce skills. On the final day of camp, participants will compete in a triathlon race to finish out the week.

Ages: 7 – 12 years old

Tuckahoe Camp Explorer

A theme based camp with a unique mix of gymnastics and rockwall climbing. Children learn basic gymnastic skills on the uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and vault.

Ages: 5 – 12 years old

Dates: 2 one-week sessions, beginning June 25 and July 16

Participants of all skill levels learn gymnastics on a variety of equipment.

Tuckahoe Gymnastics Camp and More

Your child will continue to work on their gymnastics skills plus add a twist of games, cheerleading and dance.

Tuckahoe Gymnastics Camp Open Workout

Extended Version of Gymnastics Camp where participants of all skill learn gymnastics on a variety of equipment.

Tuckahoe Gymnastics, Cheerleading & Dance Camp

Learn basic cheering skills and dance techniques with an emphasis on gymnastic skills.

Ages: 7 – 14 years old

Tuckahoe Itty Bitty Camp

Designed as a first-time camp experience. Theme-based sessions include gymnastics, creative movement, simple crafts, songs, games and snack time. Parent does not participate, but must remain on premises.

Ages: 2 – 3 years old
Times: 9 – 10:15 a.m.
Dates: 2 four-day sessions, beginning May 29 and June 4

Tuckahoe Mini Camp Explorer

All the fun of Camp Explorer but for the younger camper. A fun and exciting camp that teaches children basic gymnastics skills through the use of obstacles courses and the use of basic gymnastics equipment. They will have an opportunity to climb our rock-wall.

Times: 9 – 11 a.m.
Dates: June 11 – 14

Tuckahoe Mini Gym & Sports Camp (Ages 3 - 5)

Learn gymnastics skills through the use of obstacle courses and basic gymnastics equipment. Also participate in a variety of sports like soccer, t-ball, and basketball. Must be potty trained.

Times: 9 – 11 a.m.
Dates: May 29 – June 1

Mini Gym and Sports Camp (Ages 4 - 6)

Tuckahoe American Girl Doll Camp

Calling all American Girl Doll fans! If you love adventure, helping others, and learning how to be a true friend, then this camp is for you! Campers will spend five days exploring different periods of history with their best doll friend by their side. Both dolls and participants will enjoy period crafts, cooking, games, and a secret adventure! So, bring your doll and join us for a week you will never forget!

Tuckahoe Chess Camp

Chess is a learning tool for the development of the mind that also happens to be a fun game!  Join us for a week of learning about this fascinating game of strategy.  Chess instruction using a workbook format is supported by video coaching and chess logic puzzles to promote cognitive skills.  This camp is for beginners and will include instruction, guided play, and tournaments.

Tuckahoe LEGO® Brick Building

Are you a LEGO® fanatic? Calling all future architects who would like to create three-dimensional objects. You will learn that building with bricks is really about problem-solving and engineering challenges. During this fun-filled week you will participate in both individual and group projects.

Tuckahoe Painting with Pastels

Do you love to paint?  Come join us as we work with oil pastels and study the use of color and shape based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s flowers. Campers will bring home several completed pieces of art.  All materials provided.

We will be introducing a class of modern games called Euro-style or German-Style games. Last year we played Small World, Dominion, Carcassonne, and Ticket to Ride to name a few. We will bring back some favorites and have some new games too!
