Summer Camp at the Downtown Richmond YMCA is convenient to all businesses downtown. Our camps offer a flexible and affordable, camp and child care experience for your children. Join us for a summer your child will never forget!

Summer camp has come to a close.  But read below what exciting programs we offered.  Program offerings, prices and other details may change in 2019.

Registration for YMCA members begins February 1 and for non-YMCA members on February 15.


Camp Monacan

Come join us at Camp Monacan where we offer an amazing summer day camp experience! Our trained, certified, and engaged staff will work with each child in a small group setting. They will build relationships, foster a sense of belonging, and create opportunities for each of our campers to achieve and learn. We offer a wide range of engaging activities, 30 minutes of reading every day to help prevent summer-learning-loss, daily swim lessons, as well as character development, weekly field trips, and teambuilding activities. Every week has a fun and exciting theme with an educational focus and exciting twist. YMCA Camp Monacan – you belong here!

A typical day at Camp Monacan may include:

  • Camp Arts: arts and craft, camp songs & skits, music, drama & dance
  • Outdoor Sports: archery (basic and advanced), sports & field games
  • Aquatics: swim lessons, free swim
  • Weekly themes and dress up days
  • Ranks Booklets and goal setting
  • Leadership Curriculum and Team-building
  • Character Development Bead Necklace
  • Camper of the Week Awards
  • Field Trips & MUCH MORE!

Ages: 5 – 12 years old
Times: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 10 one-week sessions beginning June 18
YMCA Member: $130 per week   Non-Member: $154 per week

*There is a $10 deposit per week to register for camps


Final Four is our post-camp experience* that happens the week after camp ends and before school begins. It runs Monday through Thursday at Camp Thunderbird!  We offer bus stops at Tuckahoe, Shady Grove, Downtown, Midlothian and Manchester. Come celebrate the end of summer at Camp Thunderbird with swimming, fishing, gaga, crafts, reading and a few more surprises!


Ages: Rising K – 8th grade
Times: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: August 27 – August 30
YMCA Members: $183   Non-Members: $217

*Camp activities and availability will be adjusted due to staffing during this week.  

Bus Pick-Ups available at the Downtown, Manchester, Shady Grove, Swift Creek (recently added) and Tuckahoe YMCAs, as well as Millworks (across the street from the Midlothian Family YMCA).

Leaders In Training (LIT)

A summer leadership experience for 6th through 8th graders. This program gives kids the chance to enhance their time management skills, teamwork, and set personal goals for themselves.

Ages: 12 – 14 years old (rising 6th – 8th graders)
Times: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 10 one-week sessions beginning June 18
YMCA Member: $130 per week  Non-Member: $154 per week

Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) at Downtown

The Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program is designed to teach and inspire rising 9th and 10th graders. Hands-on training experiences and professional development workshops provide the foundation of the program. Participants will learn basic safety, group control, games, camp best practices and engage in activities that provide valuable employment skills, healthy relationship and opportunities to lead.

Ages: Rising 9th – 10th grade
Times: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Dates: 3 three-week sessions beginning July 2
YMCA Members: $240 per session   Non-Members: $265 per session

Camp Woodville

Camp Woodville is an outdoor adventure camp. Participants will enjoy games, field trips and more. Woodville campers must be selected by CIS or the on-site YMCA after school program located at Woodville Elementary School.
