Hello Camp Arrowhead families! Due to scheduling conflicts at the Powhatan Elementary School, we will spend our last week of camp at the Goochland Y. We appreciate your patience as we worked through several unexpected issues this summer that were out of our control. Thank you for choosing the Y!

Next Week’s Drop-off and Pick-up Schedule

  • Powhatan YMCA: 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Goochland YMCA: 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Powhatan YMCA: 5 – 6 p.m.

Reminders

  • Please pack 2 cold water bottles each day.
  • Campers will need an extra change of clothes each day.
  • Any type of nuts, Nutella spread, or food that has been processed in a facility that contains nuts is prohibited from camp. Please note that we have several campers who are highly allergic to any type of nuts this summer.
  • Please remember to pack a morning snack for your child each day.

Family Night

Please join us from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Powhatan Elementary School cafeteria for Family Night on Thursday, August 15. Munch hot dogs and chips, play bingo, win cool prizes, have fun at our cake walk, or simply enjoy an ice cream sandwich! Bring the whole family! Let’s celebrate an amazing summer at Camp Arrowhead!

Week 8: August 5 - 9

Hello Camp Arrowhead families! This week the pool reopened to the delight of our campers! We also celebrated beyond books. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss. Campers looked through hundreds of gently used books and took home several of their favorites each night of camp!

Our ranks this year will all be done through camper choice! Each week the camper will be able to choose from a variety activities that we want to work toward certain ranks in and learn new skills. These activities include creative arts and sports.

Program Highlights

Campers of the week earn a special certificate and bead. In addition, this week, those selected as campers of the week, will each get to pour a bucket of water on Ms. Dianne!

Next Week’s Highlights

Next week’s theme is Waterific Wonderland. Wear something symbolic of your favorite water sport to camp!

Hello Camp Arrowhead families! We enjoyed our first week back at Powhatan Elementary in the air conditioning. Highlights included nature walks and leaf rubbings. We even enjoyed dancing to the YMCA!

Our LITs visited Belle Isle this week, and had a great time.  The weather couldn’t have been better as they toured the island and spent time on the beach!

Week 2: June 24 - 28

Week 2 of Camp Arrowhead is rockin’ and rollin’! With a weekly theme like “Cowboy Catastrophe”, you already know we are having a fun time at camp participating in western themes and activities!  Sling shots will begin soon allowing our youngest participants to participate at the Archery Range! We have loved having you all at camp and look forward to more fun in the weeks to come! Please see below a few cute pictures from our current week.

Reminders:

  • Please be sure to show us your ID at pick-up every day
  • Please remember to have your camper bring their bead necklaces EVERYDAY so that they can store the beads they earn!

Campers are continuously working towards earning their ranks and they are given the option to choose which ranks they would like to work on each day between 4:30 – 6 p.m.
