Counselor in Training "CIT"
Ages: 13 - 15
A Dip in the Lake
Teens who are hoping to be future camp staff have the opportunity to get advanced training. The CIT program helps teens begin to develop the values, knowledge, skills, and experience need to be qualified and dedicated Camp Tuckahoe staff members in the future. It is also a perfect way for teens to serve camp and grow. Each week, CITs work with counselors, meet with their administrative coordinator, and receive supportive supervision and evaluation. Those interested must complete both a camper and CIT application (available on the website and at the Tuckahoe YMCA's Membership Desk). Potential CITs will then be contacted to attend a group interview before being accepted into the program. Strong CITs are recommend to return for further development or are given a referral to be counselor when old enough. Participation as a CIT does not guarantee future employment with camp, but it is favorable. Hours logged in the CIT program will be documented to count towards HCPS requirements.
