The Y supports thousands of youth, adults, and families by providing guidance and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, and body.

Group Exercise

 

Ys offer classes for all ages, all levels and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, water exercise, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving.

All of our instructors are nationally certified through either the YMCA of the USA, the American Council on Exercise or the Aerobic Fitness Association of America. They are all certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR/AED) as well.

We make every effort to provide you with multilevel, fun-filled quality programs. This website will give you a brief description of what classes we provide. The abbreviations at the end of each class description are used on the schedules, which are provided conveniently on-line or at our facility. MULTI-LEVEL CLASSES
These classes are designed to accommodate all skill and fitness levels.

Cardio 1
30 minute low impact cardio class. No turns or quick changes. Beginner level.

Cardio 2
45 minute low impact cardio class with high impact options. Beginner to intermediate level.

Cardio 3
45 minute high impact class with low impact options. Challenging choreography with lots of linked combinations and turns. Intermediate to advanced level.

Cardio Dance
45 minutes of choreographed movement. “American Zumba”! A fun dance class to all different types of music. Multi-level.

ZUMBA/ZUMBA Exp (Express)
45 or 60 minutes of choreographed dance moves to International music. Multi-level.

Belly Dance
45 minutes of core and flexibility movement. Working from head to toe with emphasis on core and back strength. Multi-level.

Intro to Step
30 minute “learn the basics” of Step. This class is offered in January. Beginner level.

Step 2 - 45 minutes of step. High impact options given. Some Step experience required. Beginner to intermediate level.

Step 3
1 hour of Step. Step experience required. Intermediate to advanced level.

Quick Cardio 3
30 minute high intensity cardio class. Can be all floor movement or stations. Not much choreography because of time. Intermediate to advanced level.

Boot Camp 3
1 hour or 50 minute high intensity instructor coached work out. No choreography. Stations, stairs, sprints, shuffles, etc are used. Intermediate to advanced level.

Kickit 3
1 hour of approximately 45 minutes of Kickboxing moves/combinations and 15 minutes abs and core. Drill’s can be mixed in, jump rope, etc. Intermediate to advanced level.

Awesome Abs
30 minute “core” class. Working abs and low back. Options are available. Multi-level

Stretch &Tone 
1 hour muscle conditioning/strength workout. Graduated options given. Functional exercises are incorporated and lots of form cues are given. Beginner to intermediate.

BodyShape
1 hour muscle strength and conditioning class. Lots of options offered. Multi-level

BodyShape/Ball - same format as Bodyshape but with the ball is an option. Multi-level.

PowerShape 
1 hour class split 30/30 between BodyShape and Power Yoga. Multi-level

Silver Sneakers 1
45 minute chair optional class using small ball, weights, and tube. Taught to the guidelines set forth by Healthways.

Silver Sneakers 2 - 45 minute class as above but with longer required standing time. Taught to the guidelines set forth by Healthways.

Silver Sneakers Yoga Stretch
45 minute chair optional Yoga based stretching class. Taught to the guidelines set forth by Healthways.

Arthritis Exercise
45  minute chair based class using a variety of equipment. Must follow Arthritis Foundation guidelines.

AOA Dance
45 minute class teaching dance moves to music for Active Older Adults. Broadway tunes, oldies etc. American Zumba for AOA. Multi-level.

Balance & Core
45 minute class utilizing exercises that focus on strengthening the muscles that help us with balance and posture. Multi-level.

Pilates 2
45 minute class using breathing, concentration, control, and center in a fluid manner. Emphasize is on form and safe modifications. Focus is on core. Most of class is on the floor. Beginner to intermediate level.

Pilates 3
45 minute or 1 hour class with modifications offered for those who want/need them. Exercises can be practiced and perfected. More challenging alignments and executions of basic exercises can be introduced. Most of class is on floor. Intermediate to advanced level.

Hatha Yoga
1 hour yoga class. A flow of standing and seated postures are incorporated into the class. Relaxation through breath is offered at start and end of class. Straps and blocks available if needed. Options given. Multi-level.

Power Yoga
1 hour yoga class. Participants should be familiar with the basic flow of a sun salutation (they don’t have to be able to do each and every part of it). A flow can be used and at least 50% of class is standing postures incorporating strength, flexibility and balance. Intermediate to advanced level.

Yin Yoga
1 hour yoga class (or 90 minutes) participant to begin to relax into the yoga class. The poses will primarily be seated and are held for 3-5 minutes. The focus of the class is the hips and low back. Multi-level.

Slow Flow Yoga
1 hour yoga class. Class moves more slowly through positions with emphasis on stopping and clarifying positions. Meditation is also included. Seated and standing poses are done in the class. Multi-level

Intro to TRX
a 45 minute class introducing participants to TRX system. This is a muscle conditioning class using your own body weight. Intermediate to advanced level.

TRX Circuit
a 45 minute class using the TRX system as well as other equipment to work cardio and muscle conditioning in a circuit environment. Intro to TRX is a prerequisite to this class. Intermediate to advanced level.
