Active Adults Fitness

 

WATER FITNESS CLASSES
Programs include exercises for arthritis, muscle strengthening, and improvement of balance and bone density.

Active older adults will enjoy a variety of fitness programs such as group exercise and aquatic classes. Our programs allow older adults to remain active and grow in spirit, mind and body.

LAND FITNESS CLASSES
Designed for the changing needs of active adults.

Stretch & Tone 2 (formerly Intro Stretch & Tone)
Strength work to shape and tone muscles of older adults using various equipment. Includes stretching - 60 minutes (Strch&Tone 2)

Senior Cardio 1 (formerly Beginning Senior Aerobics)
Designed for the active older adult who has never taken aerobics before. Learn the "language" of aerobics while getting a good workout - 30 minutes (SrCardio 1#)

Cardio 2 (formerly Intro Aerobics)
Introductory level low to moderate intensity aerobics. Great for the active adult and those new to exercise - 45 minutes (Cardio 2^)

Pilates 2 
A core stabilization class designed to strengthen and lengthen the muscles of the body through a series of slow and controlled exercises performed while lying on a mat. Proper breathing technique is emphasized.   

Arthritis Exercise (formerly P.A.C.E./Chair Exercises)
This class promotes optimum joint flexibility, muscular strength, endurance, coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning for persons with arthritis. (Arthritis Ex)

SilverSneakers® I
Designed to increase range of motion, agility, balance and coordination. Improves functional capacities, physical fitness level and sense of well-being. A chair is used for some or all of the exercises. - 45 minutes

SilverSneakers® II
Designed to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work is alternated with non-impact aerobics. A chair is available. - 45 minutes

Outdoor Walking Program
Join your fellow walkers and enjoy outdoor fitness together.

Strides
A perfect class for beginners. Great for seniors or those post-surgery participants ready to start exercising. An aerobic workout in a gravity reduced environment. Work out without putting additional adding stress on the joints. A variety of moves and equipment are used to strengthen muscles and maintain range of motion. Class is 45 minutes.

Twinges
A program developed by the YMCA and the Arthritis Foundation to provide exercise to those participants with arthritis or similar joint problems. A medical release with a physician's consent is required. Our pool has an entry ramp and can easily accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. Class is 45 minutes.
