Financial Assistance

YMCA Programs and Services are Open to All!

Thanks to the generosity of community donors who give to our annual Strengthening Communities Fund, YMCA funds are available to qualifying families to assist with the cost of YMCA programs and services.

Apply!

To apply for YMCA Financial Assistance for childcare/camp services, applicants must first apply for daycare assistance through the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS).  Applicants who do qualify for and receive DSS assistance are typically not eligible to also receive YMCA assistance.  Applicants who are denied DSS assistance, or who are placed on a waiting list for DSS assistance are eligible for YMCA assistance, provided that the adults in the household are either currently working or attending school.

Click here to find your local DSS office.

To apply for YMCA Financial Assistance:

  1. Secure a letter from DSS stating that your family was either denied DSS assistance, or was placed on a waiting list.  This can be accomplished by going to the DSS website here and completing an Eligibility Screening.  Please print a copy of your confirmation page following the screening, and submit with your application (see below).
  2. Fill out the YMCA “Open to All” financial assistance application.  For more information, download the PDF below:
