YMCA Youth Sports programs fill kids' discretionary hours with positive activities and caring adult attention. Coaches, often volunteers, including many parents emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and the development of skills and positive values. Youth sports programs are based on our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The YMCA offers a variety of youth sports to suit all ages and abilities. Sports programs range from introductory classes to competitive sports leagues.

YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES AND REGISTRATION PERIODS
Listed below are the registration dates for all of the Powhatan YMCA youth sports leagues. Please note that all leagues will start on-line and in-house registration on the 1st date listed (on-line available for those that have current facility or community memberships). The last available date to register for the league is the 2nd date listed (NOTE: all divisions within each sports league can take a certain number of players based on the number of teams competing, some divisions fill up prior to the last date of registration).

Games & Practicies
Each player registers to practice on Tuesdays OR Thursdays starting September 4 OR September 6th from 6-6:45 p.m. Games will start on Saturday, September 15th and will run either eight Saturdays. Games will either be played at 9 or 10 a.m. Teams are created from the pool of players registered to practice on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
New Players
Each participant, in addition to the program fee, must pay $15 for a uniform. The uniform will consist of a Powhatan YMCA RED jersey, a Powhatan YMCA WHITE jersey, a black pair of shorts and a white pair of socks. Each participant must purchase a uniform in order to participate. The uniform can be recycled and used each continuous year, the program fee would be the only charge.
Returning Players
If needed, new uniforms can be purchased as a whole ($15) or in parts ($5 per jersey, $3 shorts, $2 socks.) The Powhatan YMCA feels that it is important to be earth friendly by recycling uniforms. Each returning player will receive a cost savings of $10 (no matter the membership level) after the first season of play.
The WHITE jersey will be worn by the home team (team listed first on the game schedule) and the RED jersey will worn by the away team (team listed second on the schedule.)
What equipment do I need?
The Powhatan YMCA will provide each participant with their team's shorts, shirt and socks. Each participant is required to wear shin guards and the appropriate footwear.

What is blastball?
Blastball is an excellent introductory of T-Ball for boys and girls. It teaches the basic T-Ball and baseball fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and field while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. The game is safe and uses a foam bat and ball with no gloves required.
How do we practice?
Players practice either Mondays OR Wednesdays from 6 - 7 p.m. Practices are a combination of practice, skills and a mini-game at the end.

DISC GOLF
Disc Golf, a new and upcoming national recreational activity, provides exercise and enjoyment while playing with family, friends, or on your own. The "Monster" at Fighting Creek, in Powhatan County, is open to all beginners, intermediate, and advanced disc golfers all ages. Best of all, it is FREE! The course is located directly across the street from our Elizabeth Randolph Lewis Powhatan YMCA by the Powhatan County Library. Members of the Elizabeth Randolph Lewis Powhatan YMCA facility may borrow a driver disc and putter disc from the front desk to return once completing the course!
* All discs must be returned prior to the facility closing on the day of which they are borrowed. Please check our hours of operation to ensure the time of return. Lost discs will result in an $10 fee per disc.*
