Licensed Elementary School-Age Child Care

 

YMCA Elementary School-Age Child Care programs are designed for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade. School-Age Child Care complements and enhances formal education and provides learning opportunities that build relationships, develop character and inspire discovery to help foster your child’s academic success.

As with any YMCA program, the YMCA School-Age Child Care curriculum focuses on the YMCA mission of a healthy spirit, mind and body and are based on our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The variety of activities include:

  • Literacy
  • Science and Technology
  • Service-Learning
  • Social Competence and Conflict Resolution

Shady Grove Family YMCA serves the following schools:

  • Nuckols Farm Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Short Pump Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Shady Grove Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Colonial Trail Elementary (no transportation, in cafeteria and gym)
  • Twin Hickory Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Glen Allen Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Dumbarton Elementary (transported to Christ Lutheran Church)
  • Longan Elementary (no transportation, in cafeteria and gym)
  • River's Edge Elementary (no transportation, in cafeteria and gym)
  • Echo Lake Elementary (no transportation, in cafeteria and gym)
  • Longdale Elementary (transported to Christ Lutheran Church)
  • Springfield Park Elementary (transported to Shady Grove Family YMCA)
  • Greenwood Elementary (transported to Christ Lutheran Church)
  • Maude Trevvett Elementary (transported to Christ Lutheran Church)
  • Kaechle Elementary School (we will service this school but the location of the afterschool program is TBA)

All participants at the Shady Grove Family YMCA location must be a Facility Member.

Registration Fee: $25
(annual registration fee per student)

Additional Info:

To complete your child's registration, all forms required by Virginia's Department of Social Services must be turned into the branch at least two weeks prior to the program's start date.

TUTORING ASSISTANCE
Academic Tutoring Inc. provides assistance at various Shady Grove Family YMCA After School Care sites to students who need some additional academic support for remediation or enrichment. Visit their website www.academictutoringinc.com.
