The Y supports thousands of youth, adults, and families by providing guidance and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, and body.
This program allows individuals to become certified lifeguards. It includes lifeguard, first aid and CPR/AED certification. Prerequisites for the course: Must be at least 15 years old and be able to swim 300 yards continuously showing breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Tread water for two minutes using only the legs. Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds.Upon successful completion of these classes, participants may apply for an aquatics position within the YMCA.
LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASS
15 years and older
1st class March 13, 14 & 15 (Friday 4-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9-5pm) 2nd class April 6-10 4-9pm (a portion of this class will be done online)
*Must Register 3 days Prior to Participate*$225-facility member$250-non-member
Please make sure you provide an accurate email address at the time of registration as there will be some online pre-course work required. We will email this information to participants at least two weeks prior to the start of class.
